Welcome to our School

Welcome from Tom Hilyard, Headteacher
We are a one form entry village infant school situated on the Surrey/Hampshire border and teach children aged from 4-7. We place high priority on well being, relationships and having a can do/ have a go attitude. We promote children’s development spiritually, morally, socially and culturally, whilst challenging them to become successful academically.
Our curriculum is rich and varied to support every child in becoming a confident and independent learner. Our staff are highly experienced in teaching and learning.
Our school is committed to offering the highest quality learning experience to every child. As a Church of England school at the heart of Tongham village community, we set out to promote and nurture Christian and moral values within a happy environment where everyone feels valued and secure. Our core values are courage, compassion and community.
We have high expectations of all members of the school community in all aspects of their school life, continually reviewing our objectives, celebrating our achievements and always striving to improve.

    Ofsted Report
Dear Parent/Carer We are delighted to announce that after our recent two-day Ofsted inspection carried out in September we have been awarded ‘Good’ in all areas. We are incredibly proud of all the children and staff and wider school community for helping the school to be successful. As you may know, we changed our whole curriculum in September 2022 to ensure that our children were as successful as possible in their learning. We now have an ambitious curriculum filled with a range of experiences and hands-on learning opportunities. We are delighted that Ofsted noted: ‘Pupils benefit greatly from the improved school curriculum. They are now achieving well.’ We are exceptionally pleased with the progress that the school has made and are thrilled that this is reflected in Ofsted’s report. Furthermore, we are encouraged that the areas identified for further development reflect the priorities in our School Development Plan for this academic year. Once again, well done and thank you to all the staff and children for helping to make our school so special. A copy of the report is attached. Yours sincerely Tom Hilyard Karen Lambert Headteacher Chair of Governors

    Author Visit
Today, we had a special visit from author Emma Perry. She visited all of the children in their classrooms and shared her amazing 'Know It Owl' book with them. Each child will be bringing home a signed copy. Thank you to the PTA for funding this great opportunity.

    Consultation
Dear Parents and Carers, We are excited to announce that Surrey County Council have asked us to begin a consultation to expand and become a primary school with a nursery. The consultation has been released today to ask for opinions on the school changing its age range from 5-7 to 2-11. This would see St Paul’s gain a nursery, pre-school and junior year groups (years 3-6). The proposed expansion offers continuity and stability for our children in their education; it offers the benefits of remaining local for their entire primary education; it reduces the need for parents to have to find a junior school, when places in Ash and Tongham are very limited. For these reasons we believe this will be a real benefit for the village of Tongham. Our nursery will also meet the needs of the community that we serve, supporting local families through high-quality early education. If the consultation is successful, we will be offering a number of FEET funded places. There is a consultation event on Wednesday 4th October at 6PM, held in the school hall. We urge you to attend and show your support for these changes. We anticipate that there may be some opposition from other schools, therefore every positive response to the consultation will benefit our school and our local community. Please share this consultation with people you know who live locally and encourage them to support this plan. To view the consultation and share your views, please click the link below. For ease we have attached a copy of the response form to this letter. https://www.surreysays.co.uk/csf/st-pauls-infant-school-tongham/ We look forward to seeing you on the 4th October for the consultation event. Yours sincerely, Tom Hilyard Karen Lambert Headteacher Chair of Governors
