Curriculum
Introduction
The curriculum is all the planned activities that we organise in order to promote learning and personal growth and development. It includes not only the formal requirements of the National Curriculum and the Foundation stage, but also includes the ‘hidden curriculum’, or what the children learn from the way they are treated and expected to behave. We aim to teach children how to grow into positive, responsible people, who can work and co-operate with others while developing knowledge, skills and aspirations so that they achieve their true potential.
Curriculum Drivers
Our school curriculum is underpinned by our core values
- Courage
- Compassion
- Community
Aims
The aims of our school curriculum are:
- To enable all children to learn and achieve
- To promote pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and prepare all pupils for the opportunites , responsibilities of life.
At St Pauls we understand that education influences and reflects the values of society, and the kind of society we want to be. It is important, therefore to recognise a broad set of common values and purposes that underpin the school curriculum and the work of schools.
Foremost is a belief in education, at home and at school, as a route to the spiritual, moral, social, cultural, physical and mental development, and thus the wellbeing of the individual. Education is also a route to equality of opportunity for all, a healthy and just democracy a productive economy, and sustainable development.
Key for us is our drive for educational/academic resilience for all.
